You may remember a few months ago I introduced three new members of our community—Jimmy Herrighty, Jonathan Dick, and Matt Trovato.
Each of these young men followed different paths to get where they are today—Jimmy graduated as President of his class at De Sales University, Jonathan traveled across the country in service to God, and Matt’s passion for music enriched many liturgies through his gifted performances—unique journeys all leading to the same crossroads.
On August 10, we celebrated as they made their First Profession of Vows at St. Anthony of Padua Church in Wilmington. Welcoming Jimmy, Jon and Matt into the Oblate community that Saturday morning was a tremendously joyous occasion.
The Profession ceremony is just one of many steps the newly professed will take as they continue along the road of Salesian formation. There are still many milestones to reach and many challenges to embrace to answer God’s call. We look forward to supporting them through each stage of this sacred journey.
As Oblates, we are called to live our lives as Jesus would—following His example of prayer,
community and service to others. This means Oblate priests and brothers live and work together as a community, devoting ourselves to prayer and serving wherever the need is greatest.
You understand better than most the unique role priests and brothers play in our communities.
Oblates of St. Francis de Sales can be found comforting the sick and poverty-stricken, teaching
children to be tomorrow’s leaders and serving local parishes, like yours.
